Description of the Tatar maple and features of its cultivation

Due to the unusual decoration and docile nature, maple is often used in the landscape design of the Moscow region. Planting maple and care for him do not cause any difficulties, and the return from it is very high. The tree is undemanding to the soil and endures frost. And if in winter the young shoots are chilled, in the spring it will increase new ones.

Elegant foliage attracts attention during the whole warm season. In spring, inflorescences of small bright yellow fragrant flowers stand out clearly against the background of the opening burgundy leaves. The grown leaves turn green and acquire a shape peculiar to each type and variety: five-fingered, carved, pointed. There are variegated forms of maples with colorful foliage. All summer against the background of maple greens stand out bright red, pinkish, yellowish-green clusters of fruit-krylatok. In September, ripe seeds lose their brightness, but it is then that leaves begin to change their color. In different species, they are scarlet, yellow, orange, pink, maroon.

And even the trunks of these trees can be decorative. In Tatar maple bark is black, and the fan - greenish, light brown, beige. There are several varieties of snake maple. Their trunks are covered with an unusual "snake" pattern: alternating white and green or brown vertical stripes.

Planting maple and care for it does not include a haircut. This is one of the few trees that independently form a beautiful, dense, symmetrical crown. If the plant is not used in a green hedge, he does not need to make formative pruning annually. The trunk grows even and slender, and the fertile shade of a dense crown saves the surrounding territory from the heat.

Which plant maple on the plot

In the landscaping areas are used several dozen species and varieties of maples. To make a spectacular hedge, you can plant on a section of bush maple undersized. In small areas, in rockeries, mini-gardens, trees are planted with a height of about 3 m. If the area is large enough, the owner chooses krupnomer with a height of 10 m.

Serpentine species:

  • Green Root

Almost every type of breeders divided into several varieties, differing in the color of the foliage, shoots and bark, the shape of the crown, the height of the trunk. After consulting with a specialist landscape studio, you can pick up and plant a maple in the country, which is best suited to her in size and shape.

Preparatory work before planting a tree

Before you plant a maple in the area, you need to make sure that the grown tree will not become a problem in the future.

An outdoor sunny ground should be chosen for the tree in order to get a beautiful lush crown and be able to admire it. A sprawling maple growing close to the house can severely shade the room. Its shadow will be destructive for sun-loving flowering perennials and shrubs.

The second possible inconvenience from the maple is the numerous seedlings of its seeds. They are carried by the wind and germinate in the cultivated soil with pleasure. If flowerbeds or beds are broken in the immediate vicinity, you need to be ready to fight with additional weeds.

You can plant a maple on a plot at a permanent place at the age of 2-3, when the tree shows its varietal qualities and becomes an independent viable organism.

Maple loves fertile soil. If a sufficient amount of humus or compost is prepared for planting, the question of how to grow a strong and healthy maple will be solved.

It is not difficult when and how to plant a maple, so that it quickly settles down and gives growth. An open-root maple is planted in spring or autumn. Sapling grown in container culture can be placed on a permanent place at any time of the year. It is better to plant krupnomer in winter, when the earth bed is guaranteed not to crumble from the roots.

Planting maple and care for him

Maple planting and care begin at least 2-3 weeks before the acquisition of the tree. Under the sapling they dig a planting hole 70 cm deep in depth. The dug-out earth is mixed with humus. If the soil is thick clay, sand, peat is added to the planting ground. On flooded groundwater areas in the pit, a drainage of gravel and sand is arranged with a layer of at least 20 cm.

A stake is driven into the bottom of the pit, 100-150 g of mineral fertilizer are poured in and partially filled with enriched dredging mixture. The root system is freed from strapping or container, placed on poured soil in such a way that its root neck rises 5 cm above the site. The roots straighten and fall asleep with the remnants of the earth, compacting it with their foot. After watering the seedling with 10–20 liters of water, the soil will settle, the neck will sink to the edge of the pit. The tree is tied to a cola.

Planting maple and caring for the seedling on the first day are completed, if necessary, with partial pruning of the branches. In the spring and summer, during the period of solar activity, a freshly planted tree should be applied, so that it consumes energy not for evaporation, but for the development of roots and shoots. It is necessary to water a sapling monthly with 10 liters of water, and in the hot summer - weekly.

In the next few years, the young maple for active growth will require regular fertilizing with mineral fertilizers. An adult plant tolerates drought well, but if it is watered periodically during a dry period, the crown will be more lush and fresher.

The tree should be regularly inspected for pests and diseases. Upon detection of infection, remove damaged leaves and shoots, treat with insecticides or fungicides. Pristvolny circle should be regularly weeded and loosened to destroy possible pests and improve air access to the roots.

Tree description

The Tatar maple has frost resistance, endures prolonged droughty periods, and undemanding to the quality of the soil. The duration of his life is high - in favorable conditions can live more than 100 years.

Maple blooms in the middle or at the end of May (depending on weather conditions in the region). Flowering lasts 2−3 weeks. The flowers are fragrant, yellow-green. The leaves are oval or deltoid. Thin branches with numerous leaves form a dense round crown. Fruits are red in color, they are called lionfish. Seeds ripen to the beginning of autumn.

Description and photo

In the wild, Tatar maple is widespread in forest-steppes, on the outskirts of forests and their edges, along river banks. It can be found on the territory of Russia, in the south of Western Europe, in the Balkan and Caucasus countries, in Asia Minor (Iran, Turkey).

The maple shown in the photo is a small tree or a large shrub with red or dark brown shoots and a huge number of leaves.

The height reaches a maximum of 10m, with a smooth dark, sometimes black, bark, its crown is wide-oval, which can easily be given the desired shape.

The leaves are oblong, shaped like a trident or an egg, have “teeth” along the edges, the upper surface is bright green in color, the lower one is pale green, and there is a slight fluff along the veins. In the autumn period, the leaves are strongly transformed and acquire a very showy appearance, since they change their color to red or yellowish-red.

Also, a very specific type of plant has during flowering. During this period, the leaves grow strongly, and white inflorescences appear on their background. Such a breathtaking view, the tree keeps for three weeks.

Special charm in the decorative maple make its fruits, the so-called lionfish or helicopter. Initially, these fruits are red in color, and eventually turn brown. What the maple fruit looks like is clearly visible in the photo.

Chernoklain tolerates drought and frost very well, soils with a high salt content, an increased amount of car exhaust, which is why it is often planted in large cities for landscaping.

It is planted alone or in groups, form hedges. Next to him recommend planting pines, birches, oaks, lindens.

Growing conditions

Tatar maple, unlike most of its kind, is undemanding to the conditions of growth. It is less whimsical to the ground, lighting and the constant presence of moisture, so it is easy to adapt even to urban features.

In winter, it does not need excessive care, as it is resistant to severe frosts.

Location and lighting

Choosing a place for landing Chernoklena, give preference to open areas with sufficient lighting. If to find such a plot is problematic, then the tree can be placed in a semi-shaded area - it will definitely not feel worse.

However, for decorative and hardwood subspecies, still choose the sunny side, since with a lack of rays, the quality of the foliage color will significantly deteriorate.

Soil mix

For growing suitable fertile loosened soil, the permissible acidity of which does not exceed 7.5 pH. The soil composition should contain sand, turf and humus in a ratio of 1: 2: 3. When planting in the prepared hole, you can make mineral additives, such as nitroammofosku, within 150 g

Planting seedlings

As a rule, black planting is carried out in the autumn, after the abscission of all the leaves, or in the spring before the foliage blooms. When seedlings are planted in groups, between them leave a distance of two to five meters.

The diameter of the landing pit should be about 80 cm, and the depth - about half a meter. The maple root system grows more in breadth than in depth, so it is permissible to penetrate the neck of the root by a few centimeters.

If the area where you are going to plant a tree is flooded, swamped, there is a high level of groundwater, drainage from sand, pebbles, screenings or crushed stones from 10 cm to 20 cm thick is poured into the landing pit.

Not superfluous during planting will add to the bed rotted sawdust, manure or complex mineral fertilizers.

Watering and soil care

Regular watering the plant is needed after planting in the ground, the rate is about 20 liters per tree, the frequency of irrigation is directly dependent on the drying out of the soil, but in the dry season, this procedure must be repeated every week.

Adult bushes or trees can be watered infrequently, since Chernoklen, like its other brothers, can grow without irrigation, however, for better growth, it should be watered at least once a month.

Also, after planting, you often need to loosen the ground around the maple at a shallow depth and burn weeds. After planting, it is recommended to carry out mulching with a mixture of peat and earth from molehills.

As a rule, Tartar maple is fed under the condition that no fertilizers were applied during planting. In this case, you need to fertilize the next spring after planting trees. Such fertilizers are suitable for this:

  • urea - about 40 g per 1 m²,
  • potassium salt - from 15 g to 25 g per 1 m²,
  • superphosphates - from 30 g to 50 g per 1 m².

Kemira conduct summer top dressing after loosening at the rate of 100 g to 120 g per 1 m².

Chernoklen needs annual sanitary pruning of the crown. At the end of November, either in spring, before the buds swell and the sap begins to move along the tree, all damaged, dried and diseased branches should be removed. But the trimming is best done in the middle or end of June.

Wintering plants

From the above, we see that maple does not require special conditions for planting and excessive self-care. However, shortly before the onset of winter cold, young maple trees in the first few years should be sheltered using dead fallen leaves or spruce leaves (branches of spruce trees).

You can also use burlap, wrapping it in a pair of layers of the trunk. The main thing is to protect the root neck from frost. If the young shoots are still damaged and die, then it is better to prune them.

In the spring, the tree will grow, and the crown will be renewed due to new shoots, which will have time to woody before the next winter period. Over time, the maple becomes more resistant to low temperatures, and then the need for shelter disappears.

Beneficial features

Chernoklen is a plant that contains a large amount of vitamins, minerals and enzymes in its leaves, bark and juice. Therefore, he found wide application in traditional medicine and cosmetology.

Maple syrup is brewed from tree sap, which is rich in vitamins from group B, C, antioxidants, mineral salts and fructose.

This drink improves the metabolic processes in the body, helps with obesity, restores pancreatic function, strengthens the cardiovascular system, has a wound-healing effect. It is prescribed even for cancer patients.

Tatar maple is considered a good honey plant. Honey is obtained from it curative: it helps with chronic diseases, restores immunity, and improves the functioning of organs. It is also used for cosmetic purposes, namely it is added to the composition of baths, masks and lotions. Regularly applying such cosmetics, you can restore and rejuvenate the skin.

Harvest also the bark of this plant. In the spring, it is carefully cut off in narrow strips, dried in the sun and crushed. Medicinal properties also have the leaves and fruits, from which medicinal decoctions and tinctures are obtained.

They treat inflammations, fight with scurvy and jaundice. Fresh leaves and bark powder can heal not only wounds, but trophic ulcers.

Collection of leaves, bark and dried fruit is used in the complex treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchitis, hepatitis, problems of the urolithic system.

After reviewing the description and photo of how black-crested looks like maple flowers, we were convinced that it is not only beautiful, but also an unpretentious plant that tolerates both heat and cold, it can be planted alone or create a hedge. But besides this, Chernoklen has many useful properties and can be used in traditional medicine.

Total information

The tree does not have strong and rapid growth, it has other advantages that allow it to be used for gardening gardens, parks and streets, for retaining snow and moisture in the fields, for protecting the soil from corrosion. Among these advantages are high frost resistance, drought resistance, unpretentiousness to the soil, the ability to grow without any care from the person. Tatar maple is a long-liver that can live from 100 to 300 years.

In addition, the tree is a good honey plant, bees collect pollen and nectar from its sticky flowers. According to experts, bees collect up to 100 kg of honey per hectare of maple plantations.

Light-loving tree, however, basal growth appears and grows in the shade of a tree. To prevent plantings from becoming impassable, shoots must be removed on time.

Growing Tatar maple is easy. As a rule, these trees are planted at once in large groups, in vacant places that need to be greened and occupied by plants that give a good shade.

To do this, pits and poured in them peat, compost, humus, sod land, sand. Make complex mineral fertilizers at the rate of 150 grams per 1 hole. The seedling is placed in the hole so that the root neck is at ground level. After planting, the near-stem circle is filled with mulch.

Maple grows well on soil with a pH level of 6.0-7.5, these soil indicators are measured with a special device and, if necessary, changed by deoxidation or alkalinization. For deoxidation add pine needles or peat, edible acids - vinegar, lemon, aspirin. For alkalization - dolomite flour, lime, chalk.

If you apply these fertilizers, further feeding can be carried out only after 2-3 years. If this has not been done, the seedlings are fed in the spring of next year with superphosphates, urea, and potassium.

Very often, only the saplings of the first year are watered, in the future the tree grows both up and down, and independently obtains moisture. But in arid climate, and even on sandy soil, watering is necessary. At 1 seedling accounts for at least 20 liters of water. In the fall, the trunk zone is covered with fallen leaves, straw or spruce branches, but in the spring they must be burned, since they may contain many fungi and insect larvae.

In subsequent years, the maple will grow stronger, and will grow by itself, all its care will be reduced to sanitary pruning of dried and diseased branches, and protection from insects pests.

The tree has a lot of enemies and diseases - whitefly, chertvets, weevils, black spot and powdery mildew.

When planting, you can not fertilize the soil, but after a year it is desirable to apply fertilizer (40 g of urea, 30-50 g of superphosphate, 15-25 g of potassium salts - per 1 m2). Tartar maple is drought resistant and does not require watering, but if it is watered it will be better to grow. For single planting, the distance between the trees should be 2-4m, for fences - 1.5-2m. Because Tatar maple resistant to excessive gas pollution, dust, frost-resistant (withstands temperatures up to -50o), not demanding on soils, can grow without watering in the dry months, it is widely used for urban greening. Planted along the alleys, in parks, squares, along sidewalks, creating a living fence from the noise and gas pollution of the roadway. Due to the good tolerance of shearing and shaping, Tatar maple suitable for topiary gardens.
