A little bit about white rabbits

We decided to write this article for anyone interested in rabbits. Moreover, it is about white rabbits. Why? Because pure white color is a rather rare sign in the animal world. The gene responsible for the white color is recessive, it is easily suppressed by genes of, say, gray or black colors. Therefore, to get a white rabbit is a great success. Of course, in many breeds and varieties from time to time there are beauties - owners of white skins. However, it also happens that the white color is the main indicator of a particular breed. In addition, white rabbits come in with red eyes. That's it about these breeds of white rabbits, and we want to tell you.

White Giant

Already in the name of the breed laid two of its main features - color and size. Rabbits of this breed - the result of laboratory research and experiments, careful selection. How to choose the breed of rabbit?

Rabbits of any breeds are a source of tasty and dietary meat. The only exceptions are ornamental animals. But for maximum profit, you should breed rabbits, which are bred for meat, and not those that are bred for skins. There is a large number of meat-shing animals, and even animal skin activity. And they will not be able to get meat. You should pay attention to several factors when choosing meat rabbits:

  1. The quality of the meat. Almost every rabbit meat has a pleasant taste, besides it is good for health. But there are breeds that are good because their meat is more tasty and tender. Such carcasses are sold at a high cost.
  2. Sizes of animals. There are some breeds that are really large. These giants reach a mass that is equal to 6-7 kilograms, as a result, they are large for slaughter. Sometimes such rabbits are considered not meat, but meat-peel.
  3. The rate of weight gain. Depending on how quickly the rabbits gain slaughter weight, it also depends on the cost of caring for them to achieve productivity. And the speed of the realization of the animal depends on this parameter. Those animals that are slowly gaining weight, do not carry any profit.
  4. Disease resistance. There are a huge number of infectious and fungal diseases that can cause the death of up to 80-90% of the total population of rabbits. Therefore it is better to choose those species that are more resistant to diseases.
  5. Precocity. The faster the rabbits breed, the faster they will produce offspring, respectively, and the profits will become greater. For rabbits of meat beards, this parameter is very important. Despite the fact that animals multiply rapidly, there are species that breed faster than others.

In addition to these factors, you should pay attention to which animals will be better in the area. You should also pay attention to the breeds of rabbits, because some species are not available or extremely rare in some regions, because of the hopelessness it is necessary to acquire animals that are available.

Before buying rabbits, it is very important to consult with experienced breeders who can recommend a standing variety.

Kinds of rabbit meat breeds

It is very difficult to answer right away what are the best meat breeds of rabbits. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages, therefore, they should be chosen on the basis of their own preferences. One farmer will love small but ripening animals that can very quickly feed off lethal weight. Other breeders may like meat-furred animals that are large in size but possess an average weight gain rate.

What kinds of rabbits are:

  • Gray Giant. Rabbit is a dark gray color, which gains about 4-7 kilograms of live weight. Slaughter yield is 55-57%. In litter can be from 7 to 11 rabbits.
  • Soviet Chinchilla.
Slaughter yield is 56-60%. In the litter can be from 8 to 12 rabbits.
  • Flandre or Belgian giant. Rabbits can have various shades: black, white, beige, reddish, grayish shades. Slaughter yield is 53-55%. In litter can be from 5 to 8 rabbits.
  • White giant. This species of rabbits has an exceptionally pure snow white color. Slaughter yield is 54-57%. In litter can be from 6 to 9 rabbits.

This is not all breeds that can be bred at home. In any case, it should be remembered that the meat and meat-shred breeds of rabbits are the best for breeding, at least for those who first decided to start breeding rabbits. Special attention should be paid to the species that are derived in Ukraine and Russia. They are best adapted to local conditions, have tasty and healthy meat.

Large breeds of meat rabbits

The largest rabbits can often be found not among the meat, but among the meat-shoulder varieties. These breeds are known by many professional livestock breeders. It is worth comparing them with classical representatives of the meat direction of production. First of all, they do not grow so fast and gain weight, because in order to feed them you need to give a lot of food. On the other hand, the lag in growth by months is compensated by the fact that you can get not only a carcass, but also a high quality skin.

Unfortunately, meat-sting rabbits have a not too meaty carcass, and their slaughter yield is significantly lower than that of representatives of meat breeds. And the fur and skin cannot compete in quality with the product, which is obtained from the rocks of the sandpaper direction. But, despite the fact that they significantly lag behind in growth by months, have an average quality of the product, it will be much more convenient for a beginner to work with these rabbits. They are quite unpretentious and do not require special conditions for maintenance, due to which they are very beneficial and often ahead of fast-growing, but more demanding to care for the breed.

Flandre, also known as the Belgian giant, is a meatball variety of rabbits. It is difficult to call him a champion among the representatives of his field of production based on the quality of the skins and slaughter. But Flandre is a champion in relation to the weight and overall dimensions of the body. Individual representatives can reach a mass of up to 12 kilograms.
